Site Plan

The layout of the Haiti Agricultural Institute has two distinct areas, living and working.  The living areas of the site include nine housing structures placed around a central courtyard.  There are five large scale housing units and four small scale housing units.  There is a transition space between the living and working area, this consists of a small educational building, so students can easily walk between housing and working areas.  This is also meant to separate work and leisure.  The cow pastures are placed between the dairy building and the housing for security purposes.  In Haiti, theft is common among animals for food, with the cattle placed between housing and working areas of the site there is a much better chance of the students or instructors seeing suspicious activities.  The dairy building and the creamery are placed next to each other at the other end of the site, yet convieniently located close by with the housing area.
